Honeybees!

Last Friday I got to go out to art direct yet another cool photo session focusing on local producers in the southeastern Pennsylvania area.  This time Walt of Swarmbustin' Honey was nice enough to let us drop by and take pictures of their hives, or 'the girls' as he called them.

I was surprised at how relaxing it was to be in amongst all the bees.  I imagined beforehand that I might have to take some deep breaths to relax - and tell myself that I won't get stung.  As it turned out I felt quite the opposite - very serene, and oddly uplifted the whole time.  The honeybees were flying all around us with such precision, not hitting us or each other.  They were going about their very contented business.
